Rock Bottom

Rock bottom.
Not exactly where I expected to be less than a month into the new year.
And I imagine I’m not the only person who finds themselves here too.
The promises and the excitement of the new year have faded away and we’re left with the reality of what’s to come in 2023. Not quite what December 31st promised.
Yet in the midst of the pain and the sadness and the empty promises of the new year, I find someone…Someone who knows what it’s like to lose someone you love.
Someone who knows what it’s like to feel the world turning against you.
Someone who knows what it’s like to live in a dark world.
Someone who has been there. Someone who understands. Someone who has suffered.
I find someone who promises me that one day He will wipe away every last tear from my eyes. Someone who promises to always love me. To choose me time and time again, no matter how many times everyone else leaves me.
Someone who promises to be with me to the very end. To be with me in the highs and in the lows of life.
Someone who have kept every promise they have ever made. Someone whose promises never fade away. They never fail.
The promises of the new year might have already faded away…
…but the same someone who promises me that one day He will wipe every tear from my face and promises to be with me all my days, promises the same to you.
The One who flung stars into space, made the galaxies, the stars, the seas and every creature both big and small. The One who knows the number of hairs on your head, knows what you are going to say before you even speak, knows your pain.
And He gets it.
He suffered beatings, rejection by the ones who were supposed to love him the most, lost all of his friends.
He understands your pain and is with you in it.
Maybe today you feel unseen. Maybe today you are putting on a brave face as everything seems to be falling apart. Maybe you feel like you can’t do this anymore.
Know you are not alone.
You are seen. By the God of this universe. Who loves you. So deeply. More than you could ever imagine.
God sees you and He cares.
The hope and the promises of the new year might have already faded away, but the promises Jesus has for you never fail. You can trust Him.
Come to Jesus.
Come home.
